Yes — the on-device transcription model runs entirely on your Mac, so the core dictation experience works without an internet connection. Translation and context-aware features use a cloud model and require connectivity.
macOS 13 (Ventura) and later, on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs. Apple Silicon is faster and lower power, but Intel works well too.
Voice processed on-device never leaves your Mac. For cloud features (translation, large-context modes), audio is encrypted in transit, never stored, and never used for training. You can disable cloud features any time in settings.
Yes. Noto inserts text wherever your cursor is — it works in any native or web app, including Slack, Gmail, Notion, VS Code, Cursor, Linear, Figma, Messages, and your terminal.
On clean audio, English transcription benchmarks at over 96% accuracy. Persian, Spanish, French, German, and Mandarin are all over 92%. Accuracy is even higher when context-aware mode is on.
